New Project: Salvage Aces and Previews Thereof

Salvage Aces
I’ve started a new project, well I say just started, it truly started back at the start of June as a small idea for a card based system. Its evolved from that small idea into a full blown rpg system (or at least I hope it has). The scope creep is real, but its slowly getting there. I currently have the character creation and the rule basics down in draft form. Salvage Aces is a card based rpg, requiring no dice at all to play. Characters take on the role of scrappers tearing apart wrecks dropping out of FTL travel from the visage nebula. The visage nebula is an area of space that borders the known system, any ships that go in have never come out. Scientists say that the nebula distorts scanners and readings, but this couldn’t account for all the missing ships surely? These new wrecks dropping out of FTL are the first ships ever to return, and not all are returning empty.
I’m aiming to make a mix of the paranormal with space western settings and trying to tie it all neatly into the characters working to salvage old wrecks. As is, the system is skill based and classless with small abilities to help the characters be distinguished, mechanically, from each other. Combat and complex tasks are both resolved with the same subsystem. My primary goal, making a card based rpg that utilized the things cards can do that dice cannot such as: having a hand of cards allowing players to have an idea of their chances, having a deck with changing probability as you draw, changing where you draw cards from or how many cards you draw. I have done my best to stick with the idea and lean as heavily into having cards as a primary focus over time.
Previews
Salvage Aces is still a while in the future, but you can get a look at the character creation and basic system over on my Patreon. This post was released a week earlier for Patrons, but is available to the public now. Patrons will continue to receive previews earlier and will receive the full release a week early as well.
